The author of the book of Jude was eager to write about the salvation they shared as Christians but quickly pivoted to address false teacher who were distorting the grace of God. These false teachers were trying to convince believers that being saved by grace gave them a license to sin since their sins would no longer be held against them. Jude thought it was crucial that Christians be on guard against such teaching/teachers and be prepared to oppose their heresy about God's saving grace.
True believers, Jude says, reflect God's love, show compassion, and work to pull sinners "out of the fire" (1:23).
