The book of Nahum picks up where the previous book of Jonah left off. In Jonah, the people of Nineveh repented after Jonah prophesied their impending doom. Maybe it was true repentance, maybe it was a show, but those same people ended up falling back into their evil and sinful ways.
Nahum, a prophet, predicts the Lord's judgement on the city of Nineveh for her idolatry and overall wickedness. The city ends up being destroyed by the Medes and Babylonians, as Nahum had foreshadowed.
