The book of Zechariah tells us about another postexilic prophet (like Haggai) who encourages the Jewish people to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem because of former Babylonian captivity. A future of hope also awaits them as he gives several prophesies about the coming Messiah and the end of times where the Lord shall be king over all the earth.
The main purpose of this book (and his message to the people) was to motivate the Jewish people in complete the rebuilding of the temple and encourage spiritual renewl.
